| Program Objectives |
| |
| The Nadadores swimming program is designed and
administered by professional coaches interested in developing
successful, self-reliant individuals as well as outstanding
swimmers. To this end, the following team objectives have been
created: |
| |
- To provide opportunities for social and emotional development
as well as cultural and educational growth.
- To motivate young people to continually strive to achieve
their maximum potential.
- To instill the values of goal setting, hard work,
self-discipline and sportsmanship.
- To promote the philosophy of team unity, sacrifice, and
dedication as the instrument for achieving individual goals and
objectives.

| |
| Philosophy of Competition |
| |
| The Nadadores emphasize competition with oneself.
Winning ribbons, medals, or trophies is not the main goal. Swimmers
are encouraged to participate in meets so that coaches may view
their progress and so practice plans may be adjusted in order to
maximize performance. Meets are also helpful for setting goals and
objectives for each swimmer. |

THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT SWIM MEETS |
| Why do we have Swim Meets? |
| |
| Competitive swim meets help teach good sportsmanship and
discipline. They also help to develop athleticism and competitiveness. These characteristics combined together result in team
spirit: working together for a common goal. In addition, the meet provides a true opportunity for the
coach to assess the development and progress of the swimmer. Parental support through active participation in the
Nadadores meets and events helps to reinforce the team spirit that
the swimmers are learning. |
|
| |
| A swimmers responsibility is to: |
| |
 | Get
to and from the meets. Maps
and directions to all meets can be found at ntswim.org. |
 | Arrive 15 minutes prior to the published starting time. |
 | Check in with his/her coach when first arriving ask if will be
placed in any relay races. |
 | Write heats/strokes on hand, arm, or leg with a sharpie marker. |
 | Warm up with the team |
 | Check in with the coach before warming up, before your event, and
after each race. |
 | Show good sportsmanship; the same is expected from parents and
